INVALSI big data for school system improvement

Abstract


INVALSI tests are carried since 10 years on solid scientific basis, they involved classes of four school-grades and produce sysem benchmarks and single student results deepen with several stastistics. These data are firstly returned to all schools through a personal web area, then to other stakeholders such as the Minister, regional representatives, researchers and the public community in general. INVALSI improves reliability and correct use of all these data using staistics procedures and providing help tools for the right use and interpretation. The institute should put more effort in communication, but it is time that both school actors and all other stakeholders converge on this improvement: the largest students participation, no 'cheating' behaviours, the best data interpretazion are all common aims to be pursued.
