Call for Papers

Submissions are open for invited and contributed papers to the 50th Scientific Meeting of the Italian Statistical Society which will be held virtually from 21 to 25 of June 2021. An abstract of less than 200 words and a short paper, between 4 and 6 pages, must be submitted online through the conference website following the website guidelines for the submission. Only for "Contributed papers - posters", it is possible to send only an abstract with a maximum length of 200 words, which cannot be published in the "Book of short papers - SIS 2021".

IMPORTANT DEADLINES (NEW!)

February 28th: short paper submission (for invited and contributed sessions, including posters)

February 28th: abstract submission (for "Contributed papers - posters" only)

March 28th: decision is taken, and possible revisions are required

April 23rd: resubmission of the revised version

May 7th: early bird registration

June 11th: "Contributed papers - posters" must be submitted following the instructions that will be sent to the authors

SHORT PAPERS SUBMISSION

All authors are invited to select the appropriate track during the submission process:

-  authors of invited papers (for the Scientific Meeting and Satellite Events) must select the track corresponding to their session title;

authors of contributed papers must select the "Contributed papers - oral" or the "Contributed papers - poster" track.

The "Contributed papers - poster" will be presented as pre-recorded video (max. 3 minutes) that will be uploaded to the YouTube channel of the Italian Statistical Society (www.youtube.com/channel/UCkFMeBK94eTk1Hz1Nq43jVQ) or as a file PDF available on the Italian Statistical Society 's website (www.sis-statistica.it). The authors must send the video or the PDF file by 11th June 2021 following the information that will be communicated later by email. The papers will be available online from the first day of the conference. During the conference there will be a discussion session in which it will be possible to ask the authors their questions.

Only if the number of accepted submissions for oral presentations exceeds those that can be allocated in the conference program, some of the contributed papers proposed for oral presentations could be turned into posters. In this case the order of arrival will be considered.

Notice that at least one of the authors of an accepted contribution must register and pay the conference fees by May 7th to have it included in the final program and in the "Book of short papers - SIS 2021". It is desiderable that an author present a maximum of one paper at the conference.

Short papers must include:

-  an introduction to the substantive problem and to the data analysed;

-  the description of the approach and/or models used;

-  a statement of the main results and conclusions;

-  the most important key references.

All accepted short papers will be published in the "Book of short papers - SIS 2021" (with ISBN) edited by members of the Local Organizing and Programme Committees. A consent form available on the website must be uploaded as supplementary file during the submission process. Authors who do not want to publish their work in the "Book of short papers - SIS 2021" should avoid filling the consent form.

CONFERENCE PUBLICATIONS

Extended versions of a selection of the short papers presented in the "Book of short papers - SIS 2021" may be proposed for publication in sector journals.

Extended versions of a selection of short papers will be published in a Springer book in the series Proceedings in Mathematics & Statistics (ProMS): "Studies in Theoretical and Applied Statistics - SIS2021 - 50th Meeting of the Italian Statistical Society, Pisa 21-25 June 2021". The book will be edited by members of the Program Committee. Authors of papers in the “Book of short papers - SIS 2021” are invited to submit an extended version of their work by September 18th for possible publication.

For papers focused on statistical models with applications to complex data from social, behavioral and life science contexts there will be a call for papers for a Special issue of the Metron journal. Submitted extended papers will undergo the regular peer review process.

GENUS - Journal of Population Sciences welcomes papers on socio-demographic issues presented at the SIS 2021 conference. A dedicated Thematic Series is also possible.

There will be a call for papers for a Special issue of Statistical Methods & Applications Journal focused on  advanced models and complex data for better decision making. SMA welcomes papers presented at the SIS 2021 on these topics.  Submitted extended papers will undergo the regular peer review process.

Stats. SIS 2021 (extended) conference papers related to Bootstrap and resampling methods are very welcome to the Special Issue "Re-sampling Methods for Statistical Inference of the 2020s"  featuring invited papers by D. Haziza - University of Ottawa and P.L. Conti – Sapienza Università Roma.  Submission deadline is 31 August 2021. Details can be found here. Submitted extended papers will undergo the regular peer review process. Stats is an MDPI Open Access Journal. Special discounts on the Article Processing Charges (APC) may be provided.
