Impact of therapeutic education on quality life of diabetic patients

Abstract


Therapeutic education is fundamental. It has the effect of preserving of health capital through better metabolic control. The main objective of this study was to determine the frequency and profile of diabetic patients who benefited from a therapeutic education.This is a cross-sectional study was conducted from 1st September to 1st November 2016, involving 100 patients at the Diabetes in Care Center - Doukarat- in the wilaya of Fez. A total of 74% of the patients were females and 63% had an age > 50 years. The majority of patients had Type II diabetes (85%). As for therapeutic education, the 58% of patients who benefited from therapeutic education, reported absence of dyslipidemia, myocardial infarction, retinopathy, and renal insufficiency in 51%, 93%, 72%, and 96%, respectively. The therapeutic education of the diabetic patient has demonstrated through this study its contribution into the prevention and reduction of complications of diabetes.
