Abstract


Current digital environment offers timeliy, continuously and, often, free of charge huge amount of data about various phenomena. Administrative data as well massive data, generically named big data are available on the web. For example, phone calls records, credit card transactions, traffic movements. In addition, there is information about messages exchange using social networks and blogs, and multimedia communication. The abovementioned contest envisages the possibility of the construction of statistics based on data available on the web sources or by integration of different sources.
Practicioners sand researchers are discussing about the future of the surveys. This paper presents the potentialities of the use of multiple sources and the role of the surveys in this contest. Integration advantages as well as methodological problems are considered. Some experiments on multi-source integration are shortly overviewed, weakness and strengths of their results identified.
